Parent volunteer Agnes Juhasz hangs a medal around Tate Bothum. Bothum is a Turner Middle School sixth grader who completed a marathon (26.2 miles) of running during his lunch recess as part of the Mileage Club at TMS. Two eighth graders, Caden Leal-Midgett and Matthew Pelphrey, completed a marathon every year since sixth grade. For their accomplishment they were awarded trophies and pizza from Pizza Hut. TMS students ran and walked over 500 miles during their lunch break this school year. Mileage Club was held two days a week from October to May. The goal of Mileage Club is to encourage students to be physically active at least 60 minutes every day.
