Berthoud Library has you covered for Spring break
By Surveyor staff
Are you planning a stay-cation for spring break this year? Berthoud Community Library has a full week of special programs planned for families and kids of all ages.
STEM Saturday — I can do it!
Bring your budding engineer and see Play-Doh in a whole new light, literally. With our squishy circuits, kids can create light, sound and motion (almost) by themselves. Saturday, April 4, 1-2 p.m., Grades K and up.
Instant Book Club — Just Add You
Each day we will read from “The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane,” by Kate DiCamillo. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday April 6, 7, 8, 2-3 p.m., grades 1-4
Hour of Code
Learn some coding basics and get your geek on. Monday, April 6, 4-5 p.m., middle school
Fairy Garden Workshop
Create a fairy garden with guidance from Berthoud resident and fairy garden enthusiast Laura Schultz. Most materials will be provided, including your very own fairy. Fee for materials is $10, registration is required. Tuesday, April 7, 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m., all ages/families
Movement, Music, and Play
Can play improve your brain? You bet! Studies show play has an evolutionary purpose that helps brain growth, especially for cognitive reasoning. So get into the library and play with Miss Christy. Wednesday, April 8, 4-6 p.m., grades K-2
Tiny Treasures with Polymer Clay
Love Play-Doh? Try out polymer clay and make a tiny treasure to decorate your room or a fairy garden. Thursday, April 9, 11 a.m.-12 p.m., grades 3-5, younger with parent
Visit Little Thompson Observatory with the Library
Meet us at the Little Thompson Observatory and use their powerful telescopes to explore the daytime sky. Thursday, April 9, 2-3 p.m., all ages/families.
Digital Studio Free For All
With your creativity and our equipment the sky is the limit. Use Makey Makey to control PacMan using fruit or a pencil drawing, compose a personal ring tone with Garage Band and take your photo in outer space with the green screen. Friday, April 10, 12-5 p.m., middle school
YAwesome Book Club
The awesome YA book we will be discussing is “Poison,” by Bridget Zinn. Pizza will be served and our next book, “The Graveyard Book,” by Neil Gaiman will be available for checkout. Friday, April 10, 4-5 p.m., teens
