Obituary – Avis Kathleen Haworth
December 13, 1924 – July 31, 2019
Avis Kathleen Haworth, 94, of Berthoud, died on July 31, 2019. She was born in McCook, Neb., on Dec. 13 1924, to Guy Brentz Sines and Mae Ashton (Lafferty) Sines.
Avis was a life-long member of the Methodist Church. She married Robert G. Haworth on Oct. 3, 1954. She and her husband Bob were instrumental in starting the community dances in Berthoud back in the ‘80s. They loved to dance. Avis was a PEO Chapter AS and served at one time as Worthy Matron of Eastern Star. She loved to sing, being in the choir at church for countless years as well as singing at many, many functions.
She worked for Larimer County and, after retiring, she worked as the lunch hostess at The Wayside Inn. Avis was a volunteer for many different organizations including the Berthoud Historical Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and daughter Corby, as well as sisters Noreen and Iris and brothers Elmer Dee, Willis and Leonard.
Avis is survived by daughter Pati (Tim) Bena, brothers John of McCook, Neb., and Paul of Anchorage, Alaska, sisters-in-law Virginia Haworth of Berthoud and Vernice Sines of McCook, Neb., and brother-in-law Virgil Troester of Greeley, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Marcy Greenslit, Mary Hall, Stu and Barbara Boyd, and Keith and Linda Henderson. Avis had enduring Faith. She was a simple lady.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2019, at Berthoud First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Monday, Aug. 5, 2019, at Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home in Loveland. Interment Berthoud Greenlawn Cemetery.
