Obituary – Paul Stephen Wakefield
Paul Stephen Wakefield
1956 – 2019
A celebration of Jesus Christ and His work through the life of Paul Stephen Wakefield will be held at Gilcrest Baptist Church on Friday, Jan. 18, at 2 p.m.
Jesus Christ came into the world so that we could have life and so that we could have it more abundantly. Paul Stephen Wakefield truly believed that and lived an abundant life. He was born in 1956 to Richard and Virginia Wakefield, but his abundant life began in 1963 when his older sisters helped him to trust Christ as his Savior and he devoted his life to his Lord. He believed that Jesus lived a sinless life and paid for the sins of the world on the cross. He trusted in that payment for his personal sins, and his life’s purpose was to proclaim Jesus Christ and His message of salvation to the world. Paul did that primarily through faithful service as the pastor of Gilcrest Baptist Church for over 26 years.
He loved Jesus Christ, the infallible Word of God, and God’s people all over the world. He was passionate about learning more about Jesus daily and lifting up the preaching of the Gospel worldwide through prayer.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy, of 35 years, four sons and their families, six siblings and their families, and a host of people who have come to trust Christ as their Savior or grown to love Him more through Paul’s life. He is with his Savior at last.
In lieu of flowers, please honor his commitment to spreading the good news of Jesus Christ by making a donation to the Gilcrest Baptist Church missionary fund. Contributions can be sent to the Gilcrest Baptist Church, P.O. Box 125, Gilcrest, CO 80623.
