A Feis is an Irish Dance Competition. And Longmont based Moriarty-Moffitt is hosting the Heart of the Rockies Feis this weekend (Feb. 20-21) at Berthoud High School where dancers from all over Colorado, Utah, Arizona and California will compete both Saturday and Sunday.

Each Feis has over 300 competitors. Dancers that will be competing will range from the Beginner level to the Championship level. This is the last Feis in Colorado before the Irish Dance World Championships that will be held in Glasgow in March.

There will be many World Qualifiers competing at these two Feis, to get one last Feis in before the World Championships. There will be seven judges and two musicians traveling from Ireland, Canada, and all over the United States to adjudicate and play live Irish Dance music.

Moriarty-Moffitt School of Irish Dance is owned and operated by Jennifer Moriarty and Susannah Moffitt Ruehlen, both Berthoud residents.

Jennifer and Susannah competed at the Highest Level in competition and they both toured with the world renowned Irish Dance shows-Riverdance and Lord of the Dance. After touring, both Jennifer and Susannah’s dream came true of owning their own Irish Dance School. Moriarty-Moffitt is going on their seventh year and recently just moved into a brand new studio in Longmont. Moriarty-Moffitt is a competitive and Performance driven Irish Dance, where Jennifer and Susannah strive to offer the best in Irish Dance.

Jennifer and Susannah are excited to bring this Cultural event to Berthoud. Over 500 Irish Dancers and Parents will be heading to Berthoud each day.

The event is Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 20-21 from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. Admission-Free and the event is open to the public.
