March 22, 2018 | Local News

Special to the Surveyor

The Thompson School District Board of Education is pleased to announce that it has selected four candidates to interview for the district’s  superintendent position, which will be vacated by Dr. Stan Scheer when he retires from the district on June 30.  The candidates selected for  the interviews are:

  • Kimberly Hough – Ashburn, Virginia
  • Marc Schaffer – Boulder, Colorado
  • Tony Giurado – Grand Junction, Colorado
  • Daniel Snowberger – Durango, Colorado

Interviews are scheduled to be conducted the week of March 26. Numerous stakeholder groups have been selected to interview the final candidates and submit input to the board about each of them. Per state statute, the board will not be making a final selection until at least fourteen days has elapsed from the announcement of the finalists.

Thompson School District retained the services of McPherson and Jacobson L.L.C. to assist in conducting their search. The consultants reviewed, screened and conducted extensive background checks on fifty-two applicants.  On March 20, the consultants presented the applicants to the Board of Education and provided them detailed background information on each applicant.
