Joseph Lawrence Brophy
July 6, 1951 – June 6, 2014

Joseph Lawrence Brophy was born in Wray, Colo., on July 6, 1951, to Bryce Brophy and Bemice Devlin Brophy. He died of a massive heart attack in Hillsboro, Ore., on June 6, 2014.

Joe was preceded in death by his father, Bryce Brophy, step-father, Augustin Blanco, step-siblings Alicia Maciel and Timothy Blanco.

Joe is survived by his mother, Bemice Blanco, of Loveland, best friend and former wife, Efleda Brophy of San Bruno, Calif., Aunt Berna Bryan of Laramie, Wyo.; sister, Jody Romano of Denver – and her children Mark and Christine; his half-siblings, Stephen Brophy of Daleville, Ala., and his children, Brandi, Stevi and Stephen; and Lisa Hanson of Stockton, Calif., and her children, Christopher and Lee Bishop. He also leaves three great-nieces: Vivian, Shannon and Angela, as well as many cousins, extended family and friends.

Joe graduated from Berthoud High School in 1969, and attended Trinidad Junior College.

Joe worked for Storage Technology Corporation (STC) for over 30 years. His hobbies included computers (hardware and software), all things electronic, wood working, gardening and reading.

The daily Mass on July 24, at 8:30 a.m. at Most Precious Blood Parish (2250 S. Harrison St.; Denver) will be dedicated to Joe L. Brophy. His ashes will be interred on Grandfather Joseph L. Brophy’s family plot at Grandview Cemetery in Wray, Colo., at 3 p.m. on July 24, with Father Jonathan Dellinger officiating. Baucke Funeral Home of Yuma is in care of arrangements.
