OBITS---schreibvogelOBITKenneth Ray Schreibvogel, 57, of Berthoud, Colo., passed away Dec. 19, 2015, at his home surrounded by his friends and family, after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born May 14, 1958, to Kenneth and Alice (King) Schreibvogel in Denver, Colo. On Oct. 18, 1986, he married Julie (Rathert) the love of his life.

Kenny graduated from Weld Central High School in 1976 and attended Aims Community College and Horse Shoeing School in Bozeman, Mont. He was an accomplished carpenter, had a varied career in sales that included hearing aids and pharmaceuticals, and concluded his career in the oil and gas industry. He loved boating, fishing, gardening, and learning Spanish, which led him to many trips to Matzalan.

He was a past member of South East Weld County Fair Board, HOA board member in Johnstown and Berthoud, current member of The Berthoud Sportsman’s Club, and a member of Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Parish.

Kenny and Julie have one son, Rorey, daughter-in-law Nicki and granddaughter Angelique. Kenny is survived by his mother Alice Schreibvogel of Keenesburg; brother Steve (Kris) Schreibvogel of Keenesburg, Lori (Todd) Wise of Keenesburg, brother-in-law Karl Ruud of Calgary, Alberta; mother and father -in-law Irene and Bill Rathert of Wolf Point, Mont., Jill (Greg) Page of Glasgow, Mont. Jana Rathert of Glendive, Mont., Billy Rathert (Francis) of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., several nieces and nephews, many loving aunts and uncles, and a wonderful circle of friends.

Preceded in death by his father Kenneth Schreibvogel and sister Lynda (Schreibvogel) Ruud, grandparents; Lena (Beauchamp) and Raymond King, and Herman and Margaret (Hoffman) Schreibvogel.

Rosary service was held Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2015, at Tabor-Rice Funeral Home in Brighton, Colo., at 7 p.m. with viewing at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian burial followed on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2015, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Roggen, Colo., at 10 a.m. with interment following at Heart of the Plains Cemetery.
