anniversary-1Denny and Lynda Schachterle, of Berthoud, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 3, 2016, with an open house at the Berthoud Area Community Center.

After meeting while students at Colorado State University, Denny Schachterle, of Fleming, Colo., and Lynda Dowling of Denver, Colo., were married on Sept. 3, 1066, at Montclair United Methodist Church in Denver.

After graduation the couple lived in Longmont for 13 years, until building a home in Berthoud in 1979.

Denny retired after 30 years with IBM. Lynda retired from substitute teaching for 15 years.

The couple had two sons; Jim and wife Renee live in Berthoud. Don was lost in an accident in 1991.

They have four grandchildren; Morgan, Jordan and John Schachterle of Berthoud and Trevor Scribner of Dillon.

Denny and Lynda are avid fans and supporters of their grandchildren’s many activities. They also enjoy camping and being “snow birds” part of the winter.

They credit their longevity to belief in Jesus being the head of their home.
