Deborah Ann Winslow Hand, 61, passed away Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016, at home in Loveland, Colo., following a long illness. Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, Rainsford and Winnifred (Wright) Winslow of Fort Morgan, Colo. She is survived by her husband, Bruce Warren Hand, sons; Cale Scott (Kate) Hand, New York, N.Y., Keegan Bruce Hand, Denver, Colo., brother Scott (Leah) Winslow of Tualatin, Ore., and sister Margaret Winslow Atwood, Thornton, Colo.

Born Sept. 19, 1954, Debbie grew up in Fort Morgan and attended Fort Morgan High School with the Class of 1972. She earned her associate accounting degree at Aims Community College in Greeley.

At the time of her death, Debbie was employed at EnergyLogic, Berthoud, Colo., where her caring spirit and infectious smile made her well-loved by her co-workers. An avid reader and soccer enthusiast, Debbie inspired her sons’ love of reading and soccer that defines their career paths. She was best known for her genuine compassion and interest in the lives of her friends and colleagues.

Debbie was active in the community, volunteered in local elections, and served for many years on Berthoud schools’ accountability committees. She followed school district issues and attended school board meetings long after her boys had graduated and moved away.

Debbie was a devoted fan of the Beatles; some of her favorite songs are found on side two of Abbey Road. Debbie’s natural warmth and gentle manner made her a magnet for all children and dogs. At the family’s request; no services were held, but if you wish to honor Debbie’s memory; smile at a stranger, pet a few dogs (treats are good too), listen to a child with sincere interest and patience, or perform a random act of kindness, because that was the kind of person Debbie was. “And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.”
