Barbara Faye Formby, 73, went to her heavenly home on Oct. 31, 2015, after her heart suddenly stopped two days earlier. Her devotion to her family and firm belief in God has supported her throughout her struggles with ongoing health issues and allowed her to find peace throughout it all.Barbara was born to the late Alfred and Gertrude Long, a small-engine-repair shop owner and a homemaker respectively, in Fort Collins, Colo., on Aug. 18, 1942. From her earliest days she was immersed in her church family which would be her lifelong support. She graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1960, and she went on to get her cosmetology license. She and Tom moved their family to Berthoud in the early 1970s, where she worked out of her home in Berthoud as a hairdresser for a number of years, and later she was a cosmetology examiner for the State of Colorado. Barbara also worked in the office at Berthoud HighSchool during the ‘80s and then went on to work in admissions at Colorado State University.Barbara was blessed with a loving family, both in her childhood and as an adult. She married Thomas Wayne Formby, on April 15, 1962, in Fort Collins. Barbara helped raise her two children with patience, discipline and humility. From the very beginning she dedicated her children to God and encouraged them to explore the beauty of God’s word, hymns and church history.Barbara was an educator at heart who loved to work with her children and grandchildren; teaching them to read, write and do arithmetic. She was a kind woman of wisdom who always had time to answer a question, solve a problem, and serve others, no matter how great or small the need. She is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her Creator.Barbara is survived by her husband, Pastor Tom Formby of Longmont; her son Patrick Formby of Loveland; her grandchildren and her brother. She is preceded in death by her daughter LeAnn Reeves; her brother and her parents.A memorial will be held at Foothills Baptist Church in Lyons, Colo., on Saturday, Nov. 7, at 2 p.m., and a reception will be held afterward.
