Larimer County Sheriff’s deputies continue investigating an armed robbery of Hometown Liquors in Berthoud, Sunday night.

Deputies responded to an alarm at 8:20 p.m. on March 13 at Hometown Liquors, located at 425 Meadowlark Dr. in Berthoud, where an armed robbery had occurred.

According to authorities, a single male wielding a handgun entered the establishment and demanded money from the staff. Authorities didn’t say if the suspect got away with any money or merchandise. The suspect fled on foot before deputies arrived.

The suspect is described as a dark-skinned male, approximately 5-feet, 10 inches tall with a heavy build. The suspect was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, and had his face obscured with a cloth.

A heavy police presence was involved in the search, including K9 officers, but did not locate the suspect. A local church was put on lockdown while deputies secured the area.

No injuries were reported. The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident; no additional details are available as of Wednesday morning.

Authorities have determined that a similar incident in Wellington on Tuesday was not related, said Sargent Jim Anderson. However, investigators are talking with Longmont Police because they have seen similarities between the Berthoud robbery and several that have occurred in the Longmont area.

“There’s nothing definite, but we’re talking with them,” Anderson said.

Anyone with information regarding this incident, or any crime, is asked to call Larimer County Sheriff’s Office at 970-416-1985 or Crime Stoppers at 970-221-6868.
