An armed man who fled from police in Berthoud on Tuesday, April 10, was fatally shot by a U.S. Marshal last Friday, April 13, in Thornton.
The U.S. Marshals Service says members of its Colorado Violent Offender Task Force were attempting to arrest the man, identified as 31-year-old Bruce Allee, who was wanted on multiple felony warrants when the shooting took place at 88th Avenue and Corona Street.
Earlier on Friday morning Colorado State officers say Allee allegedly carjacked a vehicle in the 13200 block of Wyandot Street in Westminster. During that incident a 9-year-old girl was inside of the vehicle. The child’s mother alerted the girl’s father, who attempted to stop the carjacking. Allee allegedly shot the man twice while he attempted to stop him from leaving. The child was able to exit the vehicle unharmed and her father is expected to recover.
The Colorado State Patrol confirms Allee was the suspect associated with the carjacking of a converted white Ford passenger van that was being used as food truck from a construction site near County Road (CR) 10E and Highway 287 in Berthoud last week. The incident began when a state trooper found a vehicle near LCR 17 and Highway 287 and discovered it was reported stolen. He made contact with Allee and a female passenger while waiting for backup. Allee exited the vehicle with a firearm and ran from the scene toward the construction site where he stole the van.
Allee was wanted for possession of a controlled substance, third degree assault and stalking. He had removed an ankle monitor that was required by the supervised release program he was a part of in violation of his conditions of bond.
